My first experience with Judith Viorst’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day must have been auditory. I can recall the words so much better than the images. Yet, I have often alluded to this picture book when I’m having a lousy time of it.
With the film out in theaters, I remembered the elementary school librarian reading this book to us. Also, I recalled a substitute teacher playing the audiotape for us. How old school is that?
