I am pleased to say I now am an owner of a Literary Elements Adult Summer Reading Program Mug. Thank you, Harris County Public Library (HCPL) for this reward! 😉 Now, I need to work on the Footprints in the Sand Summer Reading Club for Adults at Tallowood Baptist Church.

Also, in lieu of the Subheading “TBR (To Be Read)”, I’ve put in “TBF (To Be Finished).” Both of these books needed to go back to the library. I’ve gotten back in line for these books as well.

Lastly, I’m thrilled I’ve got 3 books on my shelf via Net Galley! As Jack Keroauc would say “Ooooh, wee!”

Announcing Jorie’s Online Reading Club

Jorie's Reads Online Reading Club 2014

Jorie’s Reads Online Reading Club 2014

As a librarian at a public library branch, I tend to associate summer with various summer reading clubs or programs (SRPs). Harris County’s launches today. Houston Public also hosts an SRP. Libraries and other institutions encourage readers young and old to read a certain amount.

Starting this summer, I propose an online Reading Club. Here’s how it works:

  1. Registration is free. Sign up either by posting a comment on this post or commenting on the webpage for Online Reading Club.
  2. There’s no assigned reading! However, select something to read this summer. This can be a book, newspaper, blog, magazine, etc. Just as long as it’s textual material.
  3. At the end of the summer, we’ll arrange a Google Hangout.
  4. Talk about what you read sans spoilers and let everyone “present” know if you’d recommend it.
